Photo Requirements

One of the most important things in commissioning your portrait is having a good photo reference to work from to ensure a good quality portrait. An ideal photo would be in natural light, face on and at eye level. The better the photograph the better the portrait! The more photographs you send me the better, as it helps me get the personality and the character of your pet. Use the best camera you have available, although phone cameras are good, if you do own a digital camera that’s even better!
I understand if your pets have passed and you can’t get any good photos, but i will try my best to portray your pet as best as possible, using your help where features are not visible on the picture!
Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions, I am always happy to help and give advice!:)

PHOTO TIPS

Here are some tips to help you select the perfect picture for your portrait commission. You can also send me as many pictures as you like to beckyfrazier@blackcatartllc.com and I can help you choose.

When looking through your pictures and albums of your loved ones and pets, or taking a new picture yourself, there are a few key things to consider:

  • Good Lighting – is your picture light enough to see your pet?

  • True eye color – does the picture show the true eye color of your pet?

  • True fur color – does the picture show the true fur color of your pet?

  • Visible fur direction – can you see the fur in detail?

  • A good distance from the camera – is your pet too far away and hard to see?

If you would like several of your pets altogether in one portrait but can’t get a picture of them sitting together then don’t worry! With the right selection of photos, I will be able to draw them all together for you.

"The creation was realistic of the drawing and looked identical to my frenchie canines. Step by step presentation was always given with feedback. Highly recommend"
Becky is an amazing artist with attention to detail down to the smallest hair. I wish I could post a picture on this form to show how amazing her art looks exactly like our dog. I would highly recommend Becky for anyone looking to get a pet portrait done!
